I believe the reason this question arises is that many JAWS users report receiving a JAWS repair instruction after downloading via the update feature. As a result, I use that part of the JAWS menu only to find out if there's anything new, then go to the FS website to download. _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Roy Nickelson Sent: Tuesday, June 08, 2010 4:45 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: repairs before updates no it is not necessary to run a repair first just do a check for updates. if the update fails then just go get the full version from the freedom scientific page and install it over what is already there. That will work no repair necessary. Just a big download. I have just had my laptop cleaned off and finally registered all the software again and shall be very wary of the next update Regards Dorothy
