I called Freedom Scientific about this problem. I am putting the solution that we found here for anyone with this problem in the future. I did an update to jaws version 12 5 2 5. I was told that the version that I had been using had problems. When I updated I was able to go ahead and do the remedy that I mentioned at the very beginning of this thread and it worked! Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone. I wouldn't think that the dialogs would have changed that much from JAWS 11 to JAWS 12 in that particular area. I have shut down the computer totally several times to no success. Often, on my laptop, it is the result of opening and shutting the laptop lid (I have an auxiliary monitor). Sometimes, it follows a NetMeeting or other remote access by technical support. Still, other times it just happens. It only occurs about once every 2 weeks. So it isn't too bad. I think it has something to do with the way JAWS handles the video. Anyway, when it happens, I close Outlook, shut down JAWS, and then start them both again. The problem goes away. If your problem persists, then it is a settings problem. If not, it may be continued symptoms of the issue mentioned above. You didn't indicate whether your issue is chronic and/or persistent. If so, just trash what I've said above. Thought the above, however, might be a help. ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Farfar Carlson Sent: Monday, April 04, 2011 11:59 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: 'not selected' in outlook 2007 with JFW version 12 Ilene, Not sure why you're having a problem with JAWS 12. What you really should do is first load JAWS 11 and go through the steps you outlined below, paying attention to just what you're pressing Enter on. Then do the same with JAWS 12 and just make sure to press Enter on the same items, even if they have been arranged differently. However, I now have version 12 and it does not work. When I get to the Choose an option window and highlight the first item and press enter it takes me into a JAWS help window. This happens also if I highlight the first item and press the okay button. Can someone tell me how to get rid of the 'not selected' being said on every message in Outlook 2007 with JFW version 12: What I did in the past follows: To get rid of not selected while in the list of messages, do the following: insert+f2. down arrow until you hear "custom highlight assign" hit enter. hit enter again 3 more times and it should be done. the defaults on the next 3 items you pressed enter on work for what you need.
