I don't understand what you mean.  let's say I select a few words on this 
line you're reading.  Now in what sense would I want to know "where I am?" 
What does that mean?

Just for the record, if you select something and are wondering where you are
in your selection hitting the number 8 on the numeric keypad will give you
that reading.
