I was suggesting that while selecting text if you wanted to listen to the
last line of selected text this was the keystroke to hear that last line.

Judith ,
Did I totally miss something?
Insert+8 on the number pad has always been insert+Up arrow. This is the keystroke to read the current line. You should be able to accomplish the same thing with insert +up arrow key on the upside down t on the keyboard. What does this have to do with reading selected text?
The keystroke to read selected text is shift+insert+down arrow.

I find that oftentimes when I am selecting text I want to make sure that I have finished selecting and want to make sure that the last line of intended text has been selected. I have been using this for some time and it works.

I don't understand what you mean. let's say I select a few words on this
line you're reading. Now in what sense would I want to know "where I am?"
What does that mean?
Thanks.

Just for the record, if you select something and are wondering where you are
in your selection hitting the number 8 on the numeric keypad will give you
that reading.

Hi Jim,
So that has nothing to do with reading what's already been copied to the
clipboard. It just reads whatever you may have left selected after you
copied it. But that's still handy to know, in case I want to double-check
whether I've selected exactly what I meant to before copying, moving or
deleting something. thanks for explaining that this is just what it
seemed.
I guess, as a couple of subscribers have said, there's no easy way to hear
an inventory of what's sitting in the clipboard. I remember there's a
complicated thing you can do, but it isn't *that* vital to me, I guess.
Well, at least I learned a ice, new useful Jaws command out of all that!
So
that's cool. Thanks again.

Hi yard bird the key states that it reads the selected or highlighted
text on the screen. So there for if the line of text is not selected it
will inform you that nothing is selected. Very simple hope that helps.

That doesn't work for me. I just copied your line below to the
clipboard.
Then I pressed those keys. Jaws said "text not selected." Of course,
what
I wanted had nothing to do with that; I think it was a message I'd have
gotten if I'd pressed control C to copy to clipboard but hadn't selected
anything.

ofRich,
What I'm referring to is a feature that I think appeared with the releaseJaws 7.0. It's some sort of trick whereby you can pile up things in the clipboard instead of the clipboard being cleared each time you copy something new into it. Then there are special tricks for pasting
this, the extended contents into a destination. I forget exactly how to do allbut it's been discussed a number of times over the months. I tried it
out once to learn how to use the feature, but never wound up using it thereafter, so I forget exactly how the whole deal works.
More to the point, I never understood if this was a special capability
itwritten into Jaws modifying the function of the Windows clipboard, or ifwas in fact a proprietary clipboard that's actually part of Jaws. I never heard this explained to my satisfaction. Sorry if I misled you by my remarks.
I still want to know what the keystroke is for reading the contents of
athe clipboard, whatever the answer to my confusion about there being one clipboard or two.
Hope that's more clear. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Sherman" <squirman@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 7:47 PM Subject: Re: jaws keystroke to see contents of Clipboard

Did anyone ever answer that question, which someone asked recently?
regularAnd if not, and you do, please specify whether you're referring to the------Windows clipboard, or the custom Jaws clipboard, or both.
Thanks.
