You are absolutely right. I was just pointing out that while you are
selecting text you might want to be reminded of the last line you selected
and this keystroke will give you that last line. You would probably only
need to do this in a document where you are selecting a large block of text.

But Judith, that would read *any* line immediately above the line you're
on! It's a normal Jaws reading command. That doesn't relate to checking
what's selected! What if you selected five lines above there, as well? you

Did I totally miss something?
Insert+8 on the number pad has always been insert+Up arrow. This is the
keystroke to read the current line. You should be able to accomplish the
same thing with insert +up arrow key on the upside down t on the keyboard.
What does this have to do with reading selected text?
The keystroke to read selected text is shift+insert+down arrow.

I find that oftentimes when I am selecting text I want to make sure that I

copied it. But that's still handy to know, in case I want to

I guess, as a couple of subscribers have said, there's no easy way to
hear
an inventory of what's sitting in the clipboard. I remember there's a

the clipboard instead of the clipboard being cleared each time you
