IN this case you will hear a description for the combination alt+shift If you press insert+1 and then press alt+shift. If it's a windows command such as alt+f4 you will just hear jaws saying alt+f4 without giving any description. Press insert+1 again to turn off keyboard help. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Yardbird Sent: 01 May 2007 07:59 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: alt+shift Bobcat, I just tried it and it said "no change." In any case, whatever that means, why would it be a Windows command? A sighted person is just reading text, not having it read to them, so it doesn't matter whether that text originated in the UK, the United States, or wherever, I shouldn't think. as written ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bobcat" <bobcat11@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2007 10:36 AM Subject: alt+shift Is this a Jaws command or a Windows command? Alt plus shift toggles a setting which makes Jaws say alternatively, English Canada then English United states. Remember some people were talking about Jaws starting to announce English United States? I accidentally hit alt+shift one day and heard that announcement. I hit it again and it said English Canada. I checked to be sure the language bar is off. I even went so far as to also turn it of in Jaws options, basic settings, windows system parameters. I just alt tabbed from the Jaws window back to this OE window and Jaws said English Canada. I had toggled the setting to Canada and Jaws was telling me that what it is set to for this window or application. It only makes the announcement if the language is different from the previous window.
