Thanks. I imagined it was something like that. I don't have any problem with
this, myself. I use IE 7 and my DSL connection, although it's at the bottom
end of their offerings in terms of download speed (and price), serves me
quite well enough. But I am sure some computer users really need to get as
close to something like a T-1 connection speed as they can, for various
practical reasons. I'm okay with my setup as is, though.

The difference can only be, at most, the time it takes for a web page to
start loading for you. So, if a web page began loading within 5 seconds
of your pressing the enter key, that's at most, how long the DNS server
may have taken to respond to your web client with the IP address of the
web server you were looking for. In practice, it's a small fraction of
that time, and switching to a different DNS server is only going to save
you a small fraction of that fraction.
If however, you have an ISP with a DNS problem so that you have
exceedingly long times before web pages begin to load, then you could
look into an alternate DNS rather than switching ISPs.
