Hi well I just want to say here I got a system with only a gb of ram and it
works really well. No problems what so ever. So my recommendation is if
you got a gb or more upgrade.

2 gigs is the sweet spot for Vista and my machine has 4 gigs and works
great. With Vista the more memory you can give it the better it will
perform.

I agree with you that a minimum of two gigabytes is a good amount of
memory to have. This is one view. Mister Asner is a very strong advocate
for the opposing view. The best thing to do is to ask around and decide
for yourself, since both of us can offer equally compeling reasons for our
opinions.
