I personally think the talk of liberating Europe is a bit disturbing. Many
millions in East Europe had already fought against Hitler before the d-day and
done so successfully. The topic is complex and beyond doubt off topic so let us
turn to Jaws discussions and let me and others interested in history discuss
these things in another place with scholarly ambitions.

On behalf of my dad, and all the boys on both sides in the ETO-both those who
made it , and went on to raise us, and those who did not--I say right on, Bob
and Alan! If you don't like it, delete it; no one will know the difference a
hundred years from now.

        Dear Friends,

        Well, today is June 6

        ***

And 66 years ago today was the day those incredible Brave Men started
to Liberate Europe!

        D-Day!

        God Bless them all!

We Owe them all so very very much!

Our existence as we sit and type on our computers!

What a different day it would be today if so many of those Men would
not have lain down their lives!

Well, we would no doubt not even be here!

        With Best Regards,

        Alan

          Dorothy,

I had not forgotten the incident but I had not realized that the 7th
was upon us.

About all I can say is that this is definitely *NOT* the world I grew
up in.

sorry if off topic, but the date

July 7, reminds us of that day in 2005, especially Londoners, we did
not have twin towers I know, but the date I mention is one we cannot forget,
some of us had family members and friends on the underground, and the saddest
thing was phoning mobiles that could never be answered by the owners ever
again.tomorrow is 5 years ago. May it be a peaceful day, some were so brave
getting right back on the tubes next day,not wanting to be beaten do forgive
this I am sure many of you do remember

          regards Dorothy
