Kirsten,
It's very helpful that you've been reporting what became of the problems
you've experienced these last two days. I believe there's a list rule
against posting simply "Thanks," but information paired with a "Thanks" is
useful for everyone. It helps us see what works and what doesn't.
Glad you caught the critical update problem. You aren't the first to
experience it with one of these updates.

Thanks for the repair info, I will try and keep that for future reference!
Have got the computer working again - it was a w7 error which seems to have
been caused by a 'critical update' which it did after the jaws installation
- unrelated, just coincidental - which I didn't know about.
