Hi Daniel,

The quoted printable settings is in the html settings control in the
Send Settings. You may think it has nothing to do with the settings in
plain text messages: but I think Outlook itself (or the listserv
software) sees html in some of our Outlook express messages when they
are sent, if quoted printable is available. (I and other people had
similar issues with another list on listar software, when I was
subscribed there.) However, essentially, the solution to the problem
rests with the list admin, I have since ascertained. It has to do with
the Mime setting in the list mail configuration. (I believe the problem
is being attended to by him at this stage.)

Flor,
I use OE 6, and am fairly familiar with its options menu tabs, including
the
Send tab. Reading your message below, I felt as if I'd never noticed
this
trio of radio buttons in that tab, and opened the menu to take another
look.
No, there wasn't anything of the sort among the options in the Send tab.

Did I misunderstand your suggestions below?

Thank you,
Daniel

Hi Jim,

I normally use Outlook Express, but have Outlook XP on my computer as
well. I was looking for anything to do with "quoted printable" in
outlook, which is a radiobutton in a box of 3, in the Send settings of
Outlook Express, which OE users should turn off for lists like this one;
but couldn't find it in Outlook. One thing that might help is in the
Mail Format Tab, Internet Format Settings. The default setting of
Outlook (and most email programs) is ""wrap to 76". I was told once,
that I should change this to 72, as some of my lines were not reading
properly. It's possible that the list software is inserting these =20
characters etc. at ends of lines where it wants to wrap. (I don't know
that this holds up, but is just a hypothesis on my part. Worth a try,
if you haven't done it? We're talking here about old list software,
more than likely.)

Hi, not sure why my messages have these symbols in them. I am using out
look xp with everything set to plain text. If any one has any ideas why
this is happening I would like to know. This is the only list where I
am
having this problem. It seems also that some people on the list find it
annoying enough to generate at least four messages about it a week and
one
person claims that he finds my messages incomprehensible with them. So
if
some one can point me in the right direction to getting rid of them I
would
be grateful.
