I'm so glad that my instructions were so helpful to you! I tried to be as
clear as I could. OK, these steps are almost exactly like doing a
defragmentation. There is one thing you should know that is different with
windows XP when checking for errors. With windows XP, the computer will
have to be restarted to perform this operation. The downside is that you
will have no idea what it's doing because Jaws doesn't come up until it's
done checking for errors. And this can take quite a long time. Sometimes
an hour or more.
But, if you still want to do this, here's how it's done.

1. go to my computer, then local disc C.
2. do the alt enter for the properties.
3. Shift tab, it should say general tab. Right arrow once to the tools tab.
4. Tab once, it should say, this option will check the volume for errors.
Error checking check now... button.
    5. at this point, press enter, this will bring up the start button. If
you want to proceed, there are a few steps you must take first.
6. hit tab, The first thing you will hear is, cancel button.
7. Hit tab again. the next thing you'll hear is. check disc options
automatically fix file system errors check box not checked. Hit the space
bar to check this.
8. Hit tab again. The next thing you'll hear is. Check disc options scan for
and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box not checked. Check this with
the space bar also.
9. Tab once more. This puts you back on the start button. If you press
enter, it will ask you if you want it to run the next time you start
windows. You have the option of canceling it and getting out of it.
I've done this and it runs just fine. I usually do it before going to bed
so that it can do it's thing while I'm sleeping. The next morning, the
computer is up and running just fine.
I hope that this made sense to you. Good luck. Jack
