Mark,

Why not just use the JAWS verbosity menu and set column and row titles for
the selected cell(s)? I do that all the time, and the stetting are usually
saved in the JSI file unique to that spreadsheet.

By the way, the steps for getting Jaws to read your titles for you in Excel
2007 is as follows...

1. Find the row that contains the titles.
2. Place your cursor at the first cell in that row.
3. Next, we Define the Name of this cell as a Title.
4. Type Alt+M to go the Formulas tab.
5. Type M again to open the Define Name menu, and hit D to select it.
6. In the Name field, type in "Title" and hit Enter.
7. Now, as you move around the data, you should hear the column and row
title first, then the cell content.

Thank you! Laughs I may come whining to you about more in future. You've
helped a great deal. I'll try that title thing, Mark. Thanks so much.
