Well, shine my shoes!

I just discovered a setting that makes my context menu *not* appear, and
have now fixed it, with thanks to you all.

Here's the setting, in case any of you are also seeing what I did:

Go to the start button
Alt+Enter to open the task bar properties dialog
Ctrl-Tab to the Start Menu tab
(I have selected the classic start menu, by the way.)
Select the customize button.
Tab until you reach a list of checkboxes with on/off as the choices.
I changed this one back to "ON":
Enable dragging and dropping-ON

That fixed it.

By the way, the entire list of selections is as follows:

Advanced Start menu options:
Display Administrative Tools-OFF
Display Favorites-OFF
Display Log Off-OFF
Display Run-ON
Enable dragging and dropping-ON
Expand Control Panel-OFF
Expand My Documents-OFF
Expand My Pictures-OFF
Expand Network Connections-OFF
Expand Printers-OFF
Scroll Programs-OFF
Show Small Icons in Start menu-OFF
Use Personalized Menus-OFF

Dave

hi dave.

i got this too work aswell.

when you navigate to notepad throught the start menu and press the
application key on it you find that jaws does not announce that the menu has
been activated.

just use the up and down arrow keys and you will find that you are actually
in the menu.

hth.
