hi dave.

i got this too work aswell.

when you navigate to notepad throught the start menu and press the application key on it you find that jaws does not announce that the menu has been activated.

just use the up and down arrow keys and you will find that you are actually in the menu.

hth.

George,

I can never get that to work. In your example to Tom for Notepad, you said
to go to the Start menu, Programs, Accessories, and then down to notepad. So
far, so good.

However neither the Applications key nor Alt+Enter will bring up a context
menu to allow me to send it to my desktop as a shortcut.

I always have to go to:

Documents and Settings\<user name>\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\notepad
and then I can use the Applications key.

How in heck did you get yours to work right from the Start menu?

Dave

tom,

i just made a shortcut for word pad on my desktop and it opened the word pad
app.

throw the one for word pad away on your desktop and then go to start
programs accesseries and arrow to wordpad and hit the apps key and arrow to
send to and right arrow and arrow to desktop as shortcut and hit enter and
it is there.

Subject: notepad saga continued

Hi, all.

Well my notepad shortcut access saga continues, but I have made an
unexpected discovery that may help diagnose the situation.

Currently, according to HK detective, I now have no shortcuts on this
machine for notepad.

On a whim, I tried accessing notepad directly, and when I hit enter on
the
selection, it immediately went to "my computer" on the desktop. I then
tried doing the same thing with Wordpad, and got the same result.

Notepad and Wordpad are under accessories, so somehow, those
applications
are being directed to "my computer" and the desk top.

Does anyone know how to correct this issue?

If so, I think I actually may be on the way to solving this troubling
problem.

Thanks as always!
