Hi Golden, Yes, there are couple tutorials on Vista. Rick Harmon did a tutorial on Vista, called "Windows Vista fFirst Looks" which talks about using Vista for the first time. Joseph Lee has also done a tutorial called "A Guide to Windows Vista." I know that Narator is covered there on one of the tutorials. Rick's and Joseph's tutorials can be found at www.blind-geek-zone.net. At the site, go to Audio link, then look for heading called Vista. Cheers, Joseph P.S. If you have any questions about Joseph Lee's tutorials, let me know off list. ----- Original Message ----- From: golden To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 10:22 AM Subject: Re: Narrator On VISTA thanks again Chris any tutorial on Vista? ----- Original Message ----- From: Chris Hallsworth To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 4:50 PM Subject: Re: Narrator On VISTA Hi, all versions of Vista are accessible with JAWS. I'm using a laptop running Vista Home Premium and JAWS 8. Keyboard response is a little sluggish, but otherwise it works fine. Hope that helps ----- Original Message ----- From: golden To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 4:04 PM Subject: Re: Narrator On VISTA which version of Vista is most accessible with JAWS? thanks ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 11:06 AM Subject: Re: Narrator On VISTA I can say for sure that on my computer in Vista, if I exit narrator before logging off, it does not come back up again. It must be some strange glitch with some peoples systems because it's working the same as XP for me. I've just tried it. There does seem to be some difference between the XP and VISTA versions though. With XP, if you exit Narrator before hutting down, it did not come back. Joseph Lee says that with VISTA you have to bring up the EASE of Access Center and exit it. Not yet sure if this worked for my student. Cher >>> "Peter" <peterholdstock@xxxxxxx> 11/6/2007 4:16 PM >>> I've found with Vista that if you have magnifier open when you shut down/log off etc, it comes up when you log back in again. However, if you have it closed before you log off / shut down, it does not start again. As far as I recall, it works in the same way as the XP version. I only used it last week when setting up my PC again. I don't have hands-on access to a computer with VISTA and need instructions to pass along to the student. Apparently with VISTA, exiting Narrator does not keep it from re-starting when the computer re-starts. Perhaps I could figure it out if I had my hands on the laptop, but cannot do it remotely. Thanks for any help. Cher Chris Hallsworth BrailleNote mPower User Website: www.chrishallsworth.co.nr
