I've found with Vista that if you have magnifier open when you shut down/log off etc, it comes up when you log back in again. However, if you have it closed before you log off / shut down, it does not start again. As far as I recall, it works in the same way as the XP version. I only used it last week when setting up my PC again. I don't have hands-on access to a computer with VISTA and need instructions to pass along to the student. Apparently with VISTA, exiting Narrator does not keep it from re-starting when the computer re-starts. Perhaps I could figure it out if I had my hands on the laptop, but cannot do it remotely. Thanks for any help. Cher
