Thanks for that. There does seem to be some difference between the XP and
VISTA versions though. With XP, if you exit Narrator before hutting down, it
did not come back. Joseph Lee says that with VISTA you have to bring up the
EASE of Access Center and exit it. Not yet sure if this worked for my student.

I've found with Vista that if you have magnifier open when you shut down/log
off etc, it comes up when you log back in again.

However, if you have it closed before you log off / shut down, it does not
start again.

As far as I recall, it works in the same way as the XP version.

I only used it last week when setting up my PC again.

Subject: Narrator On VISTA

While installing JAWS on a student's laptop (remotely), I have checked some
option which is causing Narrator to start every time the computer starts. I
don't have hands-on access to a computer with VISTA and need instructions to
pass along to the student. Apparently with VISTA, exiting Narrator does not
keep it from re-starting when the computer re-starts. Perhaps I could figure
it out if I had my hands on the laptop, but cannot do it remotely. Thanks for
any help.
