Do you, perhaps, have a computer store where you could test a keypad out
before purchasing it?
You might want to try using the Jaws laptop configuration first to be sure,
as another lister has suggested, that it isn't an issue with the Sony
keyboard.
Just a thought, as I know I spent some time, too, trying to sort out the
keypad.
If I were the paranoid kind, I would say the manufacturers were just doing
this to aggravate blind people. <grin>
