?Well actually, jaws can read the text under the mouse. However, it sometimes does and sometimes not. If you can, switch to magic screen magnifier. It works with jaws. In fact, freedomscientific is the one that makes magic, so no wonder. I have used zoom text a bit before I lost more of my eye sight and frankly it works better than magic. However I found that it didn't played well with jaws.

In JAWS 11 or earlier, you can mute key pressings for all keys, in the configuration manager, Set options, Keyboard options, Key labels page.
