Hi,

Were you referring to looking up help in the http://docs.google.com/support

and looking for help in the search edit box?

If so there is a help answer under using google docs with a screen reader.

It states that google works best with Firefox 3.6 and jaws 12.00.

You mention that you called GWMicro isn't this for the Window eyes screen
reader? Could this be the problemif you are not using JAWS?

I hope someone can contradict me; however, I've met with a big fat zero when it
comes to accessibility and Google Docs. There is a very nice accessibility
discussion in the help section of Google Docs, and very specific directions are
given as to how the menus may be accessed -- using the escape key. FireFox is
recommended.
The problem is that none of the suggestions or instructions in the help section
worked.
I despaired of working with Google Docs entirely. There is a keystroke to
download to MS Office equivalent files, and this sort of works, but that is as
good as it is going to get.
I was so frustrated trying to use JAWS that I called technical support at GW
Micro (I still have an active license for Window Eyes). I got a "No Dice"
answer. You cannot use Google Docs with a screen reader is what I was told.
I then tried System Access. Technical support laughed when I mentioned Google
Docs.
At least for some, Google is the chief sinner when it comes to accessibility.
Well, that's my story. Hope you have better luck.

  Dear Listers,
I would like you to share some tips and tricks for using google docs and
spread sheets.
Basically I wish to fill in some data on the spreadsheet which my company
sends via google docss as a link.
Do those pluggins like google cloud connect or offisync etc. worth installing?
I tried using google docs online, however neither I could read the data nor I
could write. With the help of Jaws Curser, I could see the menubars.
Is there any other way for using google docs?
  Awaiting response.
  Regards,
  Amar Jain.
