He doesn't have to leave anything out; he just needs to place his reply at the top like most people do who want their replies to be read. I suspect that most folks just hit the Delete Key when they don't see a reply at the top of a message.

Hi, Dave. If he leaves out what Ted said previously, Then Ted might not know which message in the thread he was to elaborate on.

Tom:

Sorry for the sharpness of my email.

I have just gone through the messages on this thread. I did see your
comment "please elaborate". But, your comment was at the end of what Ted
had already written.

Personally, I would have asked the question but, I would have left out what
Ted had written.

In this way, by just having your question in your response to Ted's email, I
and others would have got straight to what you were asking.

It is infuriating when you open an email to hear: "you wrote:", followed by what could be a large quoted passage from an email you had already red, only
to find the reply at the end of the quoted text.

I hope I am forgiven.

sincerely:

Dave Durber

Hey Dave,
What's with the flame here? I don't make a habit of reposting someone's
message without interjecting a comment and I certainly didn't in the
message
you described. I very specifically asked for Ted to elaborate on
something
he said about a back-door approach to solving the problem. I think you
missed it, pal.
Later.

Tom
