The original DECtalk sold for $4,200, was reduced in price for $1600.  Then the 
DECtalk PC came out.  I can't remember how much it sold for.  We also had the 
first DECtalk Express, connecting through the 9 pin serial cable.  The DECtalk 
PC, when it started to fail, would randomly emit a high-pitched squeal.  That 
one did wonders on your ears if you used headphones.  Yow!  I think we were 
using Vocal-Eyes at the time.
