Hi, What happens if you highlight the text then, while in the "font" menu option, you tab to color and arrow down? What I believe *should* happen, and what happens here, is a list drops down and presents the various colors you can choose from. I know you said you tried the font/color option but did you try arrowing down repeatedly to make the drop down ... well, drop down?
