This is only partially true. There are other things announced with the JAWS scripts as well as your login. There are also other elements of the scripts which make Skype easier to use. Having heard SkypeTalking, I think it would actually give me more information than I really want.

It's ok Jamie.SkypeTalking is just an alternative to the scripts and SkypeWatch. SkypeWatch, as of Skype 4.x, is broken. For example only yourself who signs in and out are announced, nothing else. This is a Skype 4.x issue, and has nothing to do with SkypeWatch. SkypeTalking however solves all this as it communicates with JAWS via the Skype API, instead of JAWS scripts relying on the Skype program. Hope this helps.Mr Technician E-mail and Facebook: christopherh40@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266 Twitter: http://twitter.com/christopherh40 On 18/05/2010 21:04, Jamie Cuthbertson wrote:Hi Chris, Am I getting this the right way round....Is Skype Talking an alternative to using the Jaws scripts with Skype Watchor do you still require the scripts as well as Skype Talking? Also, what does Skype Watch do that the scripts don't do, in other words does it add anything significant over and above the scripts Sorry for my ignorance on this one. I prefer to be with the latest and greatest, and currently am testing the upcoming Skype 5.0, which is as accessible as Skype 4.2. I also use SkypeTalking, a free Skype plug-in to speak Skype-related events by communicating with your screen reader, together with the Skype API, to speak such information. If you do not have a supported screen reader, to which JAWS is a supported screen reader, or you do not have a screen reader loaded, then it will communicate via SAPI5 speech. You can download SkypeTalking free from http://skypetalking.googlecode.com. I highly recommend this program compared to the JAWS scripts and SkypeWatch. Hope this helps. Essentially I've been asked if Skype 4.2 is better for a Jaws user than Skype 3. Do any of you power users have an opinion one way or other and, ifpossible, can you please highlight what you like about your preferred option.
