Hi Catherine,
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by when you're cursoring round.
Would it not work to just go to verbosity manager by pressing Insert + V
whilst in Word, press P until you get to Punctuation. Then press the space
bar until Jaws announces none and then Tab round to save the changes?
