Hi Steve, I'm not sure what version you upgraded from, but there has been a major shift in where JAWS configurations are now stored. These are now in the C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name] folder structure. (This is the same location where you will find folders such as your own "My Documents", "Favourites", "Desktop" etc..) The reason for this is that many systems are used by two or more family members, or in the case of schools and such like, one PC may be shared by different students. Each user invariably has their own preferences. I'll leave the seasoned experts to provide you with the tips and tricks they employ, but just wanted to explain that there is some degree of logic behind the change, albeit confusing initially. George. ________________________________ From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Holmes Sent: 12 October 2005 23:12 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] JFW 6.2 Help Needed. List, Recently someone raised the question of whether 6.2 had been altered regarding the configuration manager. I've just installed 6.2 and now wish I'd never bothered. It was troublesome to install. And when it comes to trying to fine tune i.e. making settings for how it speaks numbers, words, and the voice rate and pitch so far what I've done doesn't remain saved and to get at the Jaws verbosity settings from the desktop to get everything working the same with all programs it doesn't let me. Please can someone give me some help. Many thanks. Steve
