[jaws-uk] Re: JAWS repeating "equals" every second

Thanks for all the responses.

Sounds like it is not JAWS or even the clock.

Two items which it seems need investigating more.

1. My father has remembered that the problem began after he had
been using a usb-wired keyboard attached to the laptop. He removed this
without going through the "safely remove hardware" process. Could this
have left a problem? How did you solve the problem with the wireless
keyboard, which sounds similar?

2. The other option is a 'sticky key' although this is not
apparent from current inspections. Since it is a laptop is there a
possibility of something producing a 'sticky key' result somewhere
within the laptop itself?

Anyway thanks for the advice.

Regards

I doubt it is the windows clock that is doing it especialy if you have

screen echo set to "highlighted" which is its default possition.

One case I recall was with certain wireless keyboards sometimes whatever

method the software kept in touch with the wireless keyboard would cause

random characters to be spoken, has a wireless keyboard been added.

One thing I am reasonably certain of is that it is not a JAWS problem

but something else that I going on with the system that JAWS is

inadvertently showing up as a spoken equals sign.

Regards.

It's not simply a keystuck down on the keyboard?

Are you showing the clock in the system tray? I mean the windows clock?

You can hide this in the taskbar properties. jaws will still give you

the time with the

JawsKey+F12

keystroke even if the clock is not visible.
