[jaws-uk] Re: JAWS missing syllables out

I've tried experimenting with various zoom and view settings when Word has
had other problems. Would a change in Word affect how JAWS operates in
Wordpad and Notepad?

Thanks.

I thin the adjustments you might want to try are in the Microsoft Word
domain.
Go into the "view" menu and set document view to "normal" by pressing enter
on it in the menu. When you have done that go back into the "view" menu and
locate "Zoom" and press enter, then press down arrow for 75 percent and
press enter. Now try reading the document, this usually helps.

There is no Jaws 7.5, if you do the following you will be able to report the
exact version number.
1 Press insert+J for Jaws window.
2 Press alt+h for "help" and then A for "about" Jaws.
You will have the version number read out to you on the next screen.

Subject: [jaws-uk] JAWS missing syllables out

Hello, I've only just joined. So sorry if this has been discussed in-depth
before.
I'm using JAWS 7.5, and I've noticed it has a problem in Wordpad and
Notepad that I only noticed in Word with earlier versions. I updated my
version of Windows when I upgraded to JAWS 7.5, so I don't know if that has
anything to do with it.

After I start doing word processing and other tasks like cutting and
pasting or using the 'find' facility, it stops reading properly. It reads as
if it's missing syllables or letters out. Sometimes, it even misses out
whole lines. Yesterday, I was doing something where I had to cut and paste a
lot, and it started reading only one word on each line sometimes. If I
cursor back or forward letter by letter, it says blank where the letters it
should be reading are.

I can make it read allright for a little while for some reason by saving
the document, selecting text, or sometimes refreshing the screen and
maximising the document. But it soon goes back to the way it was before.

Recently, someone sent me instructions on how to optimise the display
settings, system settings and task bar and start menu settings for screen
readers. I made a few changes, but nothing helped. In fact, if anything,
it's worse.

So do you have any advice on what I can do?

  Thank you.
  Diana
