Shirley, you inadvertently hit ctrl h. This collapsed view of a folder can
be useful if you want to collect all the messages in a thread together. To
uncollapse the folder:
View menu;
Current View;
go into that submenu;
up arrow to "Group messages by conversation";
press Enter.
