Hello Shirly If it is just a list of names with the phone number on the same line, you could make sure that the surname is typed first, e g "Smith John" rather than the other way round. Now just highlight the lot with control and A, then press ALT followed by A then S, then press enter. What this does is to use the Tables "Sort" menu in it's default mode, even though the list is not in a table, to add items to the list just add them to the bottom and go through the process again. It is a fairly crude way of doing the job but it works, it's no good if you have addresses as well on seperate lines as these will be included in the sort and get jumbled up, you need to put everything in a table if you have addresses as well, then you can sort the relevant column. Hello All, Does anyone know if a list of names and telephone numbers typed into a Word document can be automatically put into alphabetical order?... Many thanks, Shirley. __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4632 (20091124) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com
