Wayne, Perhaps I should read all your message threads to understand totally your situation, but if I understand your question you are asking how to get POP Mail onto your ISA server, NOT POSSIBLE, POP ( Post Office Protocol ) is the protocol used by POP applicatons such as Outlook Express, it's purpose is to PULL Mail from a storage, like a mailbox it is NOT used for sending mail, that is the purpose of SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol ) SMTP is used for sending mail, POP is used to PULL Mail off the storage, down to the application so it can be read. -----Original Message----- From: Wayne Fogg [mailto:wfogg@xxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 11:28 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: SMTP & POP3 http://www.ISAserver.org Hi All, Thanks for your replies to my previous post. Here's some more background information, and more on what I have done/discovered. I have an ISA Server that has dialup access on it. I have 4 clients that connect to the internet/e-mail via that dial-up connection. I do not have an exchange server for e-mail, it is all done through Outlook POP3 access (won't go into the office politics why I can't install an exchange server). I also need to be able to get e-mail and web access on the Server itself. All of the clients can access the internet, send and receive e-mails. Therefore HTTP, POP3 and SMTP access for the clients is working fine. I have managed to setup Packet Filters so that I can surf the web on the Server, and I can send e-mails (hence SMTP is working on server). My last hurdle is to be able to receive POP3 e-mail on the server itself. This is where I have fallen at the last post!! I have packet filters setup for POP3 Incoming on port 110, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be going wrong? Any advice would be gratefully received.
