Hi Steve,

But many cable systems don't support address renewal. When that happens, the
ISA Server ends up without an address, and must broadcast a DHCP Discover
message. The problem is that ISA Server doesn't allow broadcasts and therefore
the ISA Server is without an address unless you disable the firewall service,
issue the DHCP Discover broadcast, and then enabled the firewall service again.
Of course, its better to automate this, or even better, use a static address or
use the Sygate SOHO NAT server :-)

HTH,
Tom

It is HIGHLY recommended (per Shinder book p. 208-212) that your external
interface have static addressing.. I don't know of a scenario whereby ISA
SERVER can be programmed to change automatically..

You will have to change PACKET FILTERS, and published servers when this occurs..

Hi!
I have a problem with my ISA server. I seem to loose the external ip adress,
wich is assigned by DHCP. If i stop all ISA services I receive an adress just
fine, but when ISA server is Activated I can`´connect to my ISP:s dhcp. What
have I missed?

Regards/

Jimmy¨
