Hello Irving. If you check out this link and look at the doc, it tells you the ports, but I have tried them. I am going to try other things to see if can get it to work. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/techinfo/deployment/natfw/fwwinme s.asp Chris -----Original Message----- From: Choro 007 [mailto:choro007@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 12:59 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: MSN Messenger and Video/File Transfer http://www.ISAserver.org The tests that I ran where with clients local to my LAN and WAN...when I tried with someone truly outside I got the same error. The key here is to determain what port MSN uses for file transfer. I will find this out and our live will be that much better. As soon as I find out i will email you...is your email christian.villeneuve@xxxxxxxxxxx? Please contact your network administrator or Internet service provider; they may be able to enable file transfers." But I created the protocol rule using the MSN Messenger default protocol rule, just changed it from outbound to inbound. I have the MSN, MSN Messenger default rules enabled and the one I created. My machine is set up as a SecureNAT Client and a Firewall Client. Is there something I am missing maybe? Thanks Irving -----Original Message----- From: Choro 007 [mailto:choro007@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 11:14 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: MSN Messenger and Video/File Transfer http://www.ISAserver.org what i did... In the connections of MSN set it to SOCKS 4 (Server_Name ... port 1080) In the Protocal Defs you will find by default protocals for MSN but, only going out. Make one for incomming as well. The rules are applied in this order: Protocal Rules Site & Content Rules IP Packet Filters etc. I only deal with Protocal Rules and Site & Content Rules. My IP Packet Filters are ALL open. Make sure you have the protocals that MSN uses defined ... and in Site & Content Rules I gave my machine access. The only problem I ran into giving MSN access thru SOCKS is when I had the option to "ask unathenticaed users for identification" checked in the "Incoming Web Request" tab in the properties of my ISA Server. If you make your machine a SecureNAT ... you will run into fewer problems. But, for administrative purposes ... i try not to setup any of my clients up as SecureNAT...because i won't be able to restrict by Username or Group ... i would have to restrict by IP Irving ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Christian Villeneuve" <Christian.Villeneuve@xxxxxxxx> Reply-To: "[ISAserver.org Discussion List]" <isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "[ISAserver.org Discussion List]" <isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [isalist] RE: MSN Messenger and Video/File Transfer Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 10:20:40 -0500 http://www.ISAserver.org You have MSN messenger connection using Socks 4? Which rules did you create? I use it now. I'm able to send files and messeges ... never tried Video or Voice. It works with SOCKS ... but, because of other software I configured my machine as a SecureNAT. You do have to make sure your rules allow the traffic. To my knowledge MSN Messenger won't work behind the ISA server. I've checked into this myself and found in the help file for MSN Messenger that it won't work behind a firewall. You can set up Netmeeting though using the H.323 Gatekeeper. Look in the Learning Zone for Tom's tutorial. MSN Chat works fine through the firewall to users on the internet. Just can't get Video/Voice or file transfers to work. Has anyone had any success with this?
