My brain is turning to mush at the moment! I've spent the
morning editing after discovering I was missing an entire
chapter. Of what, remains to be seen.
However, I have a plan as to how to proceed. It involves
more work on the list of styles than I had hitherto
anticipated.
I want to not only change the list order but some of the
style names as well!
The plan is:
1. Start a new document.
2. Strip out all the styles to leave just the 'Normal'
style. (When was 'BaseStyle renamed 'Normal'?) Save as
'Template'.
3. Prepare a definitive list of styles in the correct
order and with new names.
4. Create the styles with the new names in the preferred
sequence. Allocate key short-cuts as appropriate.
5. Create a script in ConvText to change old style names
for new.
6. Save each chapter of the document as DDF and delete all
the style definitions at the top of the file.
7. Run the remains of the file through ConvText.
8. Load each modified file into the appropriate
(Impression) chapter.
9. Stand back and marvel at how it all looks as the
renamed (and perhaps redefined) styles take effect.
10. If it doesn't work properly, go and lie down in a
darkened room.
I'll carry out a trial run when I've plucked up the
courage. Logically, it should all work unless anyone here
thinks otherwise or can see a simpler approach. Go on, I
dare you!
I'll need to create a new function-key strip as well,
because there will be getting on for 20 styles to deal with
- that's more than in the current document.
I won't even attempt any of this until tomorrow when I
should be sufficiently refreshed to think straight.
