Mine is "nameserver 192.168.1.1" where 192.168.1.1
is my router/modem.
I use it like this for a LAN:
1. Your default route as seen from the output of
"/sbin/route" should be to your router/gateway:
For example:
0.0.0.0 10.0.0.254 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0
2. Your /etc/resolv.conf should have nameservers
pointing to your ISP DNS.
3. In browser settings, set it to direct connection to
the Internet.
