In Firefox, check your Edit->Preferences->Connection
Settings. Set "Direct connection to the Internet".
Also make sure your /etc/resolv.conf has the "nameserver" entry.
Mine is "nameserver 192.168.1.1" where 192.168.1.1 is my router/modem.
Yours should be a router/modem or the BSNL nameserver.
