Can u plz educate me on how to use it for less than 30 seats? That would do for
me. Should I buy a PCI card with RJ11 ports on them? Where can I buy the
hardware?

I think you are having a wrong idea on the physical networking and CTI.
(computer -to -telephony integration). You just use a simple C class network at
the minimum. Each agent will have either a hard phone or a soft phone, plus of
course a computer. The computers will have one series of natted IPs. Each phone
, say if it is soft will have the same IP as the computer naturally. If you
need a hard phones for the agents, then you have to get a SIP device i.e, a
VOIP gateway with FXS (foreign exchange stations) like an Audiocodes or a
Linksys -T 2 port PAP, or a regular stand alone VOIP phone . This device will
each have one IP, the multiple ports can be given one per agent. This port
alone will be RJ-11. If using soft phones , no need for any RJ-11 at all
anywhere. All the computers and the SIP devices go into the switch. Hope it is
clearer now, I am sorry I missed the point the prev mail. The SIP devices as
you would know are generally used to point at the SIP server of the
far-end termination provider, who gives us thru our ISP, the service of
converting IP packets into the PSTN abroad. Domestic BPO , the set up is more
complex; the above is for international call center only, and we are going to
point any sip devices at our Asterisk server.
If you can read 'Asterisk - The future of Telephony - by Jared Smith ' its a
great starting point and also great for experts too , as many have said too.

Try gnudialer.org or astguiclient.sf.net. I'd recommend the latter , but its
only a personal choice. They are both asterisk based. Avoid the asterisk
1.2.11 tree for call center applications. You do not need a NIC from digium
or anything for below 30 seats at least. But make sure your timer is set from
250 default to 1000 in a re-built kernel . Use ztdummy with zaptel as a timer
and no need for a card. Also, use at least kernel version 2.6.5+ to avoid a
bug in the ztdummy use that will give jitters in the voice.
Please do mail me if you encounter difficulties.
Plenty of guys are re-branding these as their solutions and they are very
much in the market under various names.
