| "What principles? A lot of universities and companies have access to
| Windows code as well as a lot of governments. I'm surprised that you've
| heard some derogatory comments about FSF/GNU...can you tell us when and
| where this was? And even in the case it actually happened, do you mean
| to say that there are no derogatory comments about MS here? Do
| understand that MS consists of over 55,000 people...a lot of different
| viewpoints. However, let me tell you...EVERY SINGLE MS employee I've met
| runs some Linux distro at home without letting his employer know. Do
| read what I just said...those guys are just as much hackers as anybody
| in the OSS community. If MS didn't support these principles, how do you
| explain www.gotdotnet.com workspaces or www.sscli.net. Or all the .NET
| projects on SF?

Free software gives the freedom to use both the object code and the
source code. Disclosing the source code under a tight and stringent
copyright license is quite different from distributing source code
with freedom to study, copy, modify, and redistribute.
You are a Student Ambassador of Microsoft and an Official Microsoft
representative, and one need not expect you to understand or support
free software licenses or principles, and instead, you could be
expected to promote the profits and business of Microsoft in every
possible by even writing non-stop nonsense to a gnu/linux user group.
One can know about principles from the licenses and other public
reports, and misstatements don't help anybody.

| Now, let me ask you this...let's say SCO wins its case against IBM and
| the existence of SCO code in Linux is proven ? Then what happens? Does
| everybody go start work on Hurd? Or do they pay a lot of money to SCO?
| What happens to the OSS community then when their kernel is yanked from
| under their feet? Now, I know that the answer is a resounding yes..that
| the OSS community would still survive. Now, how doesn't this apply to my
| (and related groups)?

You won't have heard of FreeBSD, NetBSD or OpenBSD.
You won't have heard of the European Commission's recent rulings
against Microsoft. What if all the rest of the countries in the world
take serious note of it, and take more stringent action, that would
wipe out Microsoft and where will you be after that. You are welcome
to join the free software movement with an open heart before it is too
late :)
