Gary

I was aware of an 18 character limit, and have been keeping within this
successfully.

Still seems okay, with pse fired up either external or internal to allegro.

Even with r11x44_mod

This is on wintel, 15.2 with last weeks ISR.

You had me going there...

Best Regards

David Greig

Mitch, Shirley,

I think I have defined the problem, now I just need a solution!

It appears that I have an eight character limit in naming padstacks, but
just since moving to 15.2. We have quite a few previously created padstacks
that exceed eight characters in name length.

Anyone have a clue as to how I can tell the "Pad_Designer" editor to allow
more than eight characters?

Thanks for the help!

-> Hey Mitch,
->
-> We have used dashes and underscores in package as well as padstack
-> names for years. Now all of a sudden it doesn't appear to like
-> either the underscore or the dash.
->
-> At first I copied/pasted a similar padstack file, renamed it, then
-> tried to edit it. It wouldn't load with the "_mod", so I took off
-> the "_mod", it would then load into the padstack editor. Then I did
-> a "save as" and added the "_mod". Now, once again, I can't load it
-> in with the "_mod"
-> to modify
-> it. All of this is taking place in an "unchecked" directory where we
-> create and use the symbols/padstacks in a design. They are moved
-> into the "golden"
-> library directory only when tested in a populated functional PCB
-> assembly.
->
-> In this same "unchecked" directory, I can load a previously created
-> padstack (i.e. "r15x70") without the "_mod" just fine. It doesn't
-> make any sense to me. The only thing that has changed lately is I
-> have moved from 15.1 to 15.2.

-> ->
-> -> 1) are you positive you've mod'd this one in the 'correct'
-> library, and
-> -> maybe not in a duplicate path that Allegro is NOT looking in?
-> -> 2) When you say you've mod'd it from an existing, did you do

-> -> doesn't find it. In that case you need to restart the editor
-> -> 3) can you call that new padstack (filename_mod.pad) up in the
-> -> allegro symbol editor?
-> -> 4) are you sure there's not a flash symbol associated with the new
-> -> padstack that the editor doesn't find?
-> ->
-> -> Hope this helps. Good day.
