The front piece is actually a wrist rest. The keyboard is slanted even if the wrist rest is folded under, but you're right, it slants a bit more when the wrist rest is folded out. I am extremely criticalabout keyboards, and i really love the keyboard on the dock. The casing is tapered, so it slants a bit, and there is some contrast between the rows of keys, not quite as flat as a laptop, and the way the keys press--well, i just can't describe it, but you'll not be disappointed.

It does come with a carrying case, yes. The wrist rest does not serve as a handle, but the carrying case has both a grip handle, and a carry strap. Another thing i love about the carrying case is that it has a velcro pocket on the outside of the case rather than inside, and the pocket has some depth to it. So, you can carry around the charger, maybe some day a Braille display, etc, without pressing against the keys or making the case too bulky to close.

Hi, guys. Unless they have changed this, one of the things I liked about the
docking station I saw last summer at the ACB convention was the pull down
front piece that causes the docking station to slant upward like a keyboard. The piece folds into the front of the unit if you don't want to use it, but
you can pull it down to raise the front of the unit up.

How thick were the docking stations? I really wish that I went to CSUN!

Hello everyone: I stopped at the Levelstar booth at CSUN and got to
touch
the docking station. It is going to be awesome. They said it would be
shopped May 15. I really believe this truly will help to make the Icon
the
note taker/organizer of choice when people see it.
I typed on the qwerty keyboard and it felt very nice. It will fit very
comfortably on my lap when i type.

I'm thrilled about all the added advantages we will see, such as the
extended battery life, continual charging, ethernet port, function keys
which get us to various applications, etc.
