Watch the syslog (tail -f /var/log/syslog) and unplug, then replug the
mouse. What does show in the syslog?


I see a lot of messages in the syslog like

KERN: usb hub 2: port 9 is not suspended
KERN: usb hub 2: port 9 is not in an over current state
KERN: usb hub 2: port 9 was reset
KERN: usb hub 2: port 10 is not suspended
KERN: usb hub 2: port 10 is not in an over current state
KERN: usb hub 2: port 10 was reset
...
KERN: bfs: bfs_access:1525: Permission denied
...

Is that relevant? Is that part of the USB3 problem?

Yes (except the last message about bfs).


Can someone tell me if there's a bug reported on this? If it's being worked
on? I can't get into the bugtracker.

The bugtracker seems completely down at the moment. You'll have to wait
until the new server is up and running (hopefully later today).
