It's a pretty old mouse. 20 years? It's a Logitech M-BJ58.
Not only is it not hotswappable but it, or my USB keyboard, spontaneously
disconnects in about 2-3 hours. Usually it's the mouse. Then I have to
reboot by holding down ctrl-alt-delete for four seconds.
