MIPS? Would that even be a good idea?

I was thinking go with building an off-the-shelf x86 PC with a Haiku-branded
and customized case (complete with blinkenlights and other fancy goodies not
seen on normal PCs). The turnover can be rapid, and we can keep costs
competitive. My idea for the system would be to get all AMD hardware for
cost/performance reasons (i.e. AMD motherboard with AM3 socket, Phenom II X4
or X6, DDR3 memory, gigabit ethernet, possibly USB 3.0, ATi Radeon, etc.)
all encased in either a LianLi PC-A05N (for ATX and a bit more roomy) or the
Mini PC-Q07 (Mini-ATX) that is custom designed with a Haiku (H with leaf)
shaped side window, blinkenlights on the front and any other modifications
that would make it cozy for Haiku. I dunno this is just a thought.
