It looks better, but technically, it still wastes two characters :-)
Can't we get away with a fail-only indicator? There I'm open to pretty much everything.

Indeed. I'd rather the default setup not require a Unicode font; even if we have one, we have no guarantee that someone will not SSH into Haiku from a terminal that uses a monospace font without Unicode symbols.

We can't guarantee that someone just changes the prompt either :-)
I wouldn't mind that much about unicode, at least.

I do agree we should use $/# properly now. I'll take a look at that later.

As a substitute, one could just use '#', as we're pretty much always root currently.
