[gps-talkusers] New POIs and incorrect names

Hi All,

As Steven Bingham has already pointed out, the new POIs for the UK are markedly different from before. I've now done some exploration in several locations, and in general there seem to be fewer, although they are perhaps better on restaurants, but less good on local businesses and guest-houses for example.

My main point though is about incorrect naming, particularly of pubs and schools. The names are generic. For example, pubs have POI names such as Woodhouse Inns, or Taste Pubs. These are the names of the national companies which run the pubs, but not the actual names of the pubs. This is quite inconvenient if you are looking for a pub by name. Similarly, almost all schools have POI names such as Buckinghamshire Counby Council, or Hertfordshire County Council, which are the local authorities, but not the names of the schools. Charles, are the names actually not given in the POI data, or is there a problem with the conversion?

Finally like Steve, I have found several POIs that are as much as a quarter of a mile away from the actual locations, which seems a pitty as everything else improves. It does seem worth reporting these issues, if only to be factored in to the choice of map suppliers.

Best,

Peter
