Well, the one I usually use is older than that; but my husband bought a card reader within the last year or year and a half, and it had the same issues. But maybe I should look at a 16 gb card, and see if it does any better. Hmmm.

PeggyFrom reading earlier correspondence the US maps are only 10GB. You are goingto have to save an incredible number of POIs to fill up 6GB. I would think that a 16GB card would be more than sufficient.Turning to your existing card it does sound as if it is not working properlyso I would be inclined to ask for either a replacement or your money back. If you ask for a replacement I would think about purchasing a new cardreader as well. If your card reader is more than a year or two old then thechances are that it is not capable of reading the 32GB card. I had just thought of getting everything on a 32 gig card so that I'd have extra room to put POI files on it. But if I divided the country up into regions, say maps 1, 2, and maybe9, on the first card, maps 3, 4, 5 on the second card, and maps 6, 7, 8 on the third card, I could get by with 24 gigs, in other words three 8-gig cards. Despite a coupleformattingsessions, it seemed to only want to hold about 8 gigs. Today atwork I wastalking to a guy who's kind of a computer geek, and telling himabout myproblem, and he said FAT 32 can only hold 8 gigs. That wouldexplain myproblem, but that doesn't seem to be totally true, since everyoneelse seemsto be able to get 32-gig cards and pop them into their cardreaders and havethem work. And we tried this card with two different cardreaders, one ofwhich was purchased within the last year or so. I'm just aboutready to buythree 8-gig cards and divide the maps up among them, but I'dreally ratherhave everything on one card. I just don't want to order anothercard andnot have it work, so I'm not quite sure what direction to go fromhere. IfI could find a 32-gig card locally and bring it home and try itand they'dtake it back, I'd try again. Or perhaps there's a setting on mycomputerthat makes it not recognize big cards? I just wish I knew how toresolvethis.Peggy http://kernsac.livejournal.com/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Dresser" <s.dresser@xxxxxxxxxxx To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 07, 2008 7:08 AM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: More card questionsWell then, I'd say Peggy's card is defective.Steve----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Carter" <r-carter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 07, 2008 11:10 Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: More card questionsHi,I bought a 32 gig card a few months ago from New Egg. It rarelyhappens, but it's still a possibility. Would it be possible to fit all themaps youwant on a 16GB CARD? I don't know if there's a size limit on cardstheM-Power can handle. You might also consider keeping your maps on aflash drive.Steve----- Original Message ----- From: "Peggy Kern" <kernsac@xxxxxxxxx To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2008 22:30 Subject: [gps-talkusers] More card questionsHi, all. Well, I'm sending my card back to Newegg for a refund.I'vehad good luck with them in the past, and I still don't know what waswrongthis time. Someone suggested that perhaps my card reader can'treadhigh capacity cards, and that I should get a new card reader. But wetriedit on two separate readers, with the same results. If anyonediscovers aspecific card model that works with the BrailleNote for storingGPSMAPS, I'd love it if you could either post the link to the card, orme privately. I really want to get all the maps for this versionloaded.Peggy <still wondering why this card wouldn't work, and whetherIordered the wrong thing, and how I can get the right thing http://kernsac.livejournal.com/
