The orange ball is the earth at 1.5 month intervals during the year. The Green pole is the annual axis. The red pole is the nightly axis. The blue circles are our camera at 3 hour intervals each night. To record 8 points of our annual star trails we will take a picture at midnight at each of the 1.5 month intervals. The camera position at midnight for each of the 8 locations must fall on the circle partially descibed by the blue dots, while also facing directly away from the center of everything (the sun).
