You may not think it now, but you lead a charmed life. Back in my
previous life as an EMT on a volunteer first aid squad, that sort of
spill would have yielded a fractured femur (only fracture we were
allowed to reduce in the field) and sometimes worse. Glad to hear you
came out of it relatively unscathed.
