No guessing involved as to distance. Just use the
radius tool and it will draw a circle with the exact radius given. It
also shows the center point of your circle and then you can use the
location sensor to get the coords for your query. Bernie.

Or you can use the location tool in Streets & Trips to pick a
midpoint latitude/longitude. That's what I usually do on long trips.
Also, use the distance tool to help estimate the radius of the circle.
It seems to me we have enough Q/A here for a geocaching 102 course...
